Teaching High School Multilingual Learners just got easier!
Attention high school teachers of language learner teachers! This is a space just for you. It is a space with ready-made lesson plans, instructional strategy know-how and practice, support with advocating for your students, and a community to meet with and ask questions whenever you want.
As teachers, we...
May have limited time to craft lessons we want, or we may be new teachers and would love to see how someone else does their lessons.
Can get so busy during the school year that we don't have the time to learn new strategies to improve our practice.
May also struggle, especially if there aren't many ESL/ELD teachers in our school or district, with the support to advocate for our students in their content classes.
There is a way to feel confident in your lessons, strategies, and advocacy by having a community and a coach to support you throughout the year. Having access to this support system will take off some of the load that we feel as teachers while also strengthening and growing our practice.
My Multilingual Mentor High School Teacher Membership has your back! We are here to serve you to help your year feel easy-peasy.
As a new teacher in 2010, I was thrown into a public high school that had a bad reputation. I had no idea what I was doing. None. I wasn't even shown how to access the curriculum, had no books, no supplies. It was in short, a nightmare. I was supposed to have a mentor but I never met this person the whole year. That's why I am passionate about helping other teachers, new or not.
Now, I am a Peer Coach with my district and I help other high school teachers through coaching cycles to help develop their practice and support them in any way I can.
The membership My MLL Mentor: High School is for...
High School ESL Teachers and Content Teachers who serve multilingual learners.
Teachers who want practice with strategies and lesson plans! Woohoo!
Teachers who want a community of other high school teachers to bounce ideas off of and grow together.
It is not for:
Elementary school teachers.
Teachers who may not be looking to try new strategies or something new.
Teachers who already have a variety of lesson plans in their files.
More about what's included:
Each month, we will look at an element from the CLASS framework, hold zoom meetings, and learn about it with each other through our workbook, checklists, and templates.
The next month, we will look at a provided lesson plan and the strategy together and discuss how it can be implemented.
The cycle continues month after month until you become a master at the CLASS framework! You will have knowledge of strategies and lesson plans in your hands.
We will also have occasional guest speakers and you will have access to previous speaker recordings as well as previous webinars by me.
You will get a monthly PD certificate to show to your school admin for two hours of credits.
This membership will support you in learning and practicing instructional strategies for your English Learners. It will do this by focusing on elements in the CLASS Framework.
You can join us and commit monthly (and cancel at anytime) or you can pay up front to save a little cash. If you will be using a school purchase order to purchase this course, please contact me here to get this set up!
